I read the part relating to placing belongings in the boot and rolling up windows to my wife... we both laughed.. I do not think Peter James understand their customers vehicle designs.. not a good sign...

I tried to be generous as after all Aeros have boots & electric windows.
Admiral are not worried at the roof up or down but ask you lock the doors. The CX has central locking so I do lock them.

The saddest part is that Peter James just sent generic copy to Miscellany without taking a few seconds to check that it is relevant and correct for our cars. It just proves that they don't care about us. They just see us as a potential customer base.

Given that Paul, what does it say relative to the value of being MSCC approved, and the question seems likely to be WHO approved them and WHY..?

Agreed, some years ago I did ask for the list of criteria for an insurer to become shortlisted and approved, because there was a spate of additional insurers (eg Alan Flux ?) putting ads in Miscellany...you only get one guess...did I get a reply ?

I read the Miscellany article today and agree with the writer not having a clue about Morgan’s, which doesn’t fill me with confidence about using Peter James but my bigger question is why there is a monthly ‘Insurance Update’ who in Miscellany is sanctioning this and why, and why no one has pre checked the article for accuracy.
Happy with Gott & Wynne having used them for over 20 years. May not always be the cheapest, although they have always been competitive, but you only find out how good your Insurer is when you come to claim. Have to admit I have never secured personal possessions in my Morgan’s boot nor rolled up my windows!

Absolutely. I found this out first hand following a major claim. G&W were superlative.

Agreed. I was with an insurance broker for 16 years, we always told clients and prospects that the first consideration should be the ability and willingness of the insurance company to pay a claim.

Are these "Insurance Updates" adverts or articles? If the latter then surely it's the role of the editor (or his/her team) to check the facts and accuracy before publication!

I admit that I was worried about that very situation with the Aero Coupe when some plank bent it in the car park one day.

I was using Admiral Multi-Car and they not only dealt with it quickly but allowed the car to be sent back to the factory for the work to be done given it's rare status. I had protected no-claims as a long standing customer and whilst it did go up a little on renewal I just took it given the service. You never know until it goes pear shaped.

A few posts now over at the VSCC, mostly negative. One person has reported getting a favourable quote, though. And someone else has applauded the fact that PJ will insure young drivers.

I had a look at the MSCC financial report for 2024, available on the website. It makes interesting reading.
