Cooper man, I'm fully with you re. the nanotech+ millers oils and also use them in my engine too! the difference is very noticable!

Interestingly BTR recommend 75W-90 in their axle's with no difference in grade except for friction modifier for the LSD variant yet Morgan list it as 80W-140 non LSD. Like wise with the Durance engine oil 2006-2014 Morgan state 5W-40 oil yet Ford recommend 5W-30 as a first choice oil. Perhaps here Morgan should explain why they chose these alternatives over manufacturers listings. I thought that perhaps for the engine the slightly thicker oil might be to deal with the engine situation and that it ran hot because of the cooling issues appertaining to fitment.
The Diff I can find no explanation for. There is no workshop manual available for the Morgan adaptation/fitment so owners who are a bit hands on go for the manufactures type options and their fitments where they find differing information and this creates confusion. I figured that it might be the fact that in the Morgan there is no turbo so they raised the viscosity slightly to keep oil pressure up when running hot! Shoot me down if you like! or Perhaps a Morgan person might come along tell us all and let us make informed choices. We know the BTR axle was a rush decision by Morgan as when the salisbury axle finished production Quaife had offered to supply axle parts to enable Morgan to continue fitting them but no response came from Morgan so the Australian Holden pick-up axle was its replace meant. yes that"s the one with the built in end float!

In my book, it’s 5w30 with semi synthetic oil or 5w40 with fully synthetic.

Sewin, I don't trust MMC's info on oils, as I suspect there's some copy & paste used in the manuals so old data gets accidentally used in newer versions

chatting with Billy Bellinger many years ago about the Aussie spec BTR's he advised Castrol SAF-XJ 80/140 "and add a spash of friction modifier sold by Jag service depts"

That particular Castrol spec seamed to morph into Syntrax, but then I swopped to Millers because of the tech support & I especially like to support a British manufacturer that makes a quality product

Well my Roadster is all sorted now. I changed the diff oil to the Red Line 75W90 that was recommended - the black and grey oil/sludge that came out showed me it was well overdue (probably the original factory diff oil from 2018!). Greased all the propshaft grease points. And while I was at it I've replaced the standard coil overs on the factory fit rear multi link suspension with the SSL dual rate ones (already has the SSL set-up on the front) - what a difference, she corners like she's on rails!

The diff clicking has stopped, however there is a little play in the diff, turning a wheel by hand and holding the prop shaft - is that normal?

I would like to thank everyone who commented on this thread it certainly steered me towards the remedies.

Yes the play is not only normal but required for correct meshing of pinion to crown wheel.

As a side note you will notice when both rear wheels off the ground one wheel will turn the other when LSD present. A useful check for maybe Plus 4 owners if they are unsure whether one fitted or not.

If LSD is present it's worth mentioning during MOT. It's not unknown for rear brake test to destroy the clutches!
