I had the Roadster booked in at the dealers today for an MOT, after my local test station closed after retired. But I can't drive. MrsW has never driven the Roadster. Until today. 116 miles return. Might have been a bit less if she followed instructions She really did amazing. Even she thought so.

The good lady will be driving you around Scotland on the next trip Dave! In our case, my wife no longer drives (anything) so we're a bit screwed if anything happens to me Mine never did, so it was all down to me.

Keep the faith. These setbacks are usually for a good reason, and allows you to take stock and make (if any) changes in your lifestyle.
Doesn't it feel different in the passenger seat, I'm always pressing hard the imaginary brake pedal when I enjoy Sue's driving. Talk about clipping/just missing kerbs or so it seems from the passenger side. Best crash course in weight loss thru perspiration, better than the gym........I never made a good passenger and she can make the car go when she wants to. I've learnt for domestic bliss purposes to stay quiet and occasionally close my eyes at pertinent moments.

Way back in 2003, when we had only just acquired our first Morgan (1985 4/4 in metallic grey), I had a bit of a tumble. My horse (Timmy) bucked me off in a big way and I wasn't able to drive for 6 weeks. Mrs F volunteered to take us out for a drive on condition we stuck to rural roads. She soon tired of me shouting "go on, floor it" and "faster". I then made a mistake on our routing and we returned home via the centre of Melton Mowbray. I have never ben allowed to forget this experience.
In 2009, at the Centenary event in Cheltenham, a deal was struck. I would drive back to the hotel after the DonMog BBQ and concert and Mrs F would drive after the final show. She forgot that: a) Carburettors and cold engines are awkward in queues. b) There would be hundreds of Morgans all trying to leave at roughly the same time
She hasn't forgotten that either.
However, a few years later, she won the DonMog car trial outright bringing home both the Ladies Trophy and the Overall Trophy.
She hasn't forgotten that either.
These days, most of her Morgan driving is at the DonMog grass auto test.

Dave, I hope she'll let you drive again some day! I drove to the pub and my late wife drove us back. She didn't drink. When I first met my wife we hung out at the same pub. She wasn't much of a drinker, so by 10 PM she'd go out to the car and go to sleep. I'd stay until 1 AM, and then drive us both home. She won't do that any more!

Well done Mrs W ! In our case, my wife no longer drives (anything) so we're a bit screwed if anything happens to me That is such a familiar story. We eventually had to force my father to stop driving because he was getting dangerous. My mother hadn't driven for 10 years and had completely lost confidence, so they became reliant on others. Two men of my acquaintance have wives who passed their tests decades ago and haven't driven since! One of those has now had to relinquish his licence due to health reasons, and they are somewhat isolated in the village where they live. My wife and I rarely go out without each other, and I normally do all the driving. We bought a new tintop earlier this year and she's had two goes behind the wheel so far but isn't confident yet without me beside her. I must suggest she gets more practice, you never know when you might be incapacitated. Get well soon Dave.
