Anyone experienced a creaking / squeaking noise from the vicinity of the windscreen. This has recently manifested on my 22 P4. I have taken the sun visors apart and sprayed the pivoting component with silicone spray and have tightened all Allen fasteners to the A pillars and the dashboard to no avail.

After a 100 mile drive today I am thinking the noise is manifesting from the windscreen surround structure but there is no obvious area loose or l(seemingly) incorrectly seated. Anyone that has experienced similar that can offer advice, I would be eternally grateful. My haunted car is starting to drive me mad! 😱

Andy, although mine's a Trad Roadster we had a similar very annoying 'creaky squeak' that was difficult to trace, it ended up being the harness wrap tape chafing on the side of the plastic instrument casing...but it was a dash drop job

Looks like your trying your best, how about re vaseline the cord bonnet tape and work your way back I have sprayed behind the leather on the dash where it meets the screen with the long spray nozzle so you can get in close behind. The ride is so much better than the Aero but the roads have got worse to be fair. Sometimes you hit a shuddering pot hole and there are creaks for quite a few miles later. It can be annoying but you tend to get used to it. Em

I have tried all of the above, except the wiring loom, a portion of which is evident below the dash at near side. I am going to investigate today.

The noise is interminable and constant. On the way back from Poole (220 miles) last week I had to resort to ear plugs to try and attenuate the constant creaking and squeaking!

I love my Morgan but the constant battle with quality issues is wearing.

I once had a squeak in that area and it was the adjustable steering column rubbing on the underside of the dash. I just lowered it by half a mil, to give an air gap. That wasn't a CX though!

My P6 has also recently developed a creaking noise from the "dash area", apparent at anything other than a congestion crawl. It was serviced by MMC in March so, hopefully, the cord bonnet tape was lubricated (wonderful word) at that time. I'll give that another go and drop the steering column, but also I seem to recall neoprene on the rear corner of the bonnet was recommended in another thread so I will try that as well.

I had this problem, drove me nuts. I traced it in the end to where the brake servo fits, just below the windscreen. Plenty of WD40 in and around that area eventually cured it. Did this on the inside of the car as well as the under bonnet area. At the same time the bonnet itself was making horrendous creaking noises which again plenty of WD40 sprayed into the hinged section sorted. This all started not more than 10 miles after collecting from the garage when new. I repeated this process every 2 or 3 months until eventually after a couple of thousand miles it did disappear completely. Good Luck.

Sir P

Ps Don’t overdo the WD40 on the inside of the car, it drips on your trousers!

This can be caused by the bonnet catch closest to the bulkhead. Try undoing the catch but leave the front one done up and the bonnet should sit away from the body. Take ot for a drive and report back. Nothing will go anywhere you can do 1,000s of miles like that. There are a few alternatives if that doesnt work

Some great advice folks, thank you.

Whist at Allon White this morning I did ask them about it. I was told they had indeed had customers with P6 and 4 with similar complaints which had eventually been traced back to the wiring loom portion under the near side dash area (there is quite a bit of wiring in that area).

So, by a process if elimination, I will try all of the above recommendations and report back.

Cheers,

Andy

There are a number of connectors floating around behind the airbag and any one of them is capable to tapping against the back of the dash and it can come and go. You have to removed the glovebox and you will see them all there. Its not a difficult job but the bonnet open is the easies to ellminate. Good luck and report back!
