As in all things in life, its sometimes better to bend your expectations rather than forego the opportunity of some real fun. It may have been the stage in my life at the time, but I found my more simple early Morgans the Kent and '85 CVH engined Morgans, have been the most reliable and simple fun of all my Morgans.
I never experienced the spectre of will it get me there and back, ever enter my thoughts with those cars. I did quite a bit of continental touring in both with no mishap, just simple greasing requirement and a good service before hand. The Kent engined 4 seater I used everyday for 3 years. Simple electronics, adequate ground clearance and uncomplicated easy to source if necessary components, built up a confidence in the product.. Yes it leaked in heavy rain, but the hoods are better designed today, which could be incorporated into a replacement eg the hoods now have a larger roll across the back of the hood rail, which stopped most of the water getting in under the gap between the screen fasteners, I used to experience with the original hood and so on.
I've always maintained you can have equally good fun in other open topped cars, I love driving the wife's SLK, but there is something a little different in a Morgan, because you always 'arrive' making a statement in a Morgan, you may be a little more exposed to road dirt, occasional cold or wet patch but at least it was often more intimate, often more fun and you can dress for the worst/inclement weather where necessary.

Well I am just back from a 1500 mile tour of France with 12 other morgans of which 4 or 5 were CXs. There were no issues with the CXs save poor Tony who damageed his exhaust on raised bit of a gate.
An M16 engined +4 had a misfire problem but it was fixed with putting in the old dizzy.

I am a simple man. My moto in life was bullshit baffles brains. I’m a handy DIY type, you tube ‘builder’ but no spanner or electrics man ! Much on here sounds like a foreign language and I have the upmost respect for those who post such amazing info and advice Bullshit certainly would not baffle those brains ! I thought the previous Plus4 with separate indicators and a spare wheel and even the Cobra light looked the business and did not like the less cluttered look of the latest version. All looked great, buy a new modern moggy. Don’t be macho at my age and go for a Plus 6 after hearing on hear about crashed ones.and I would be sorted for a last wonderful Hurrah . Radiator problems, poor electronic, leaky noisy hoods, cannot hear the radio at motorway speeds, Nitron upgrades, handling etc etc, and I feel my dream and requirement …..is shot to **** to use a v rude expression. I think I may just live with past enjoyment and memories. I wouldn’t even mind taking a depreciation hit as you cannot take money into the afterlife but I just cannot accept breakdowns and issues with cars these days. They just have to go until high mileage and issues start, then replace. With the exception of a strange 12 week lease deal on company cars I have always bought them (old fashioned) ,so do I even consider a Morgan lease and let them have it back after 3 years??? Lost in a sea of exhaust smoke and broken mirrors that fold back at speed and fally off wipers ….Agh.. Now just Mike (dropped the Morgan bit for today) PS I don’t think I’m on deaths door but Don’t have time to keep it in the garage, polish it for a nice day out, I would want to enjoy it very very regularly but naturally would have a second car as well

I think you have the right approach, use the car, on a frequent and regular basis, as that invariably IMHO improves the reliability of the car. I've found low mileage infrequent use, stored over long winters Morgans to be a pain, and generally improve with regular use. No motor car suffers long periods of inactivity well, and the Morgan is no exception. For myself the later MY23 cars appear to be the sweet spot ( with the requisite radiator upgrades),

Be interesting to see if the Supersport has any hidden gremlins lurking in the wings.

My P6 is a second car, and regularly gets a run out, but probably no more than 5,000 miles per year in total. I had one early issue affecting reliability which MMC thought was earthing, I think it was a latent fuel issue due to the car having less than 1,000 miles on the clock after 18 months. Still minor niggles to be sorted, but nothing that would cause me to worry about taking it on a long trip. She performed well on the run down to and from Beaulieu.
I don't know whether the market value is now more or less than I paid for her, but I don't really care. I'm just going to enjoy the driving for as long as I can.

Prices of CX cars does seem to be falling away, quite quickly!
That is both bad news and good, obviously not so good for sellers (I am also hearing some Morgan dealers are not keen to part-ex a CX car against new models!!!) yet with prices being lower, that is attracting potential owners. I fall into this category.
I had a Roadster 4 years ago, miss it, so am looking at 'used' Plus Six's....
Honesty means doing it right, even when no one is looking!

Dont find this is the case in Belgium, and not in Germany. Check on mobile.de and on the Morgan Belgium website

Prices of CX cars does seem to be falling away, quite quickly! I assume that a CX will cause considerably higher maintenance costs in old age than a Trad. It is a complex car from a small series manufacturer. In this respect, in addition to the purchase price of the used car, you have to plan financial reserves for future maintenance and repair costs. Dont find this is the case in Belgium, and not in Germany. Check on mobile.de and on the Morgan Belgium website The question is whether the used CXs will be sold here in Germany at the high prices or remain unsold. The other question is whether prospective German buyers will inform themselves enough to take advantage of the favorable UK offers. If I were looking for a used Morgan these days, whether Trad or CX, I would look in the UK. Despite the customs bureaucracy and the steering wheel on the wrong side.

We are now just shy of 2000 miles into our French tour in 2.5 weeks so far, reckon we have about another 500 miles left, the car has been running in 32 to 38 deg heat during daylight hours the entire trip, went over the high passes of the Pyrenees and now heading North again toward Brittany. The Plus Six has been running on E10 and engine wise has loved it.. Only issues so far have been ground clearance even with the SSL suspension upgrade, we have bottomed out 5 times, when loaded with 20 kilo luggage on back rack.. this has mainly been due to raised metal in the centre of gate entrances. Only failure ( today) was the separation of the passenger side window padded leather interior finisher on the side screens, turns out the MMC had drilled the holes too large in the alloy and the plastic holding tabs of the finisher have pulled out, you can see where they had been glued to get them to hold in the alloy ( so crap quality control again).. I will undertake a running repair tomorrow as we brought with us superglue and 3M strong double sided tape. Another failure has been the blue colour around Morgan in the front grill Morgan badge.. it's damm near melted in the sun!!.
So far the new radiator (4th) has done it's stuff, both header tanks holding their levels even in 38 deg heat. It's been some trip in max heat levels, but the car has purred along. We have had a hell of a good time and where ever we have stopped the French have loved it..tooting of horns from cars and thumbs up from the bikers. Has it been practical, no not much.. but it has been a great adventure and fun. ( so far). We have only had the hood up twice when it reached 38 deg, in that temp the cars aircon just coped.
So far we have seen around 40 to 45 miles per gallon ( touring speeds ) , my only wish was the car had more useable fuel amount for touring
