Gents, Please forgive me if I have misplaced this question . My Morgan is now displaying a illuminated light on the dashboard !! I have replaced to fuel pump with a new one, replaced all the relays and fuses, The red light flashes and then stops when the ignition to turned to start, the started motor turns the engine over but it will not fire / start
Has anyone got an idea what I should look at or replace first, any help with be most apprecated

tThe red flashing light may be the sign that the immobiliser is 'on'. When you insert the ignition key and turn it to start the engine, the flashing light should turn off to show that the immobiliser is now 'off' and the ecu is now ready to start the engine.
When you turn the ignition key so that the ignition is on, do you hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds ?
Under the bonnet, on the bulkhead, there is a black box with a button sticking out, this is an inertia switch that cuts power to the fuel pump in the event of an accident. Check to see if you can push the button in, sometimes the button pops out if the switch gets a jolt

Hi Mike, thanks for taking the time to reply to my question, Morgan's told me to establish the main power cable to the pump relay White with a move stripe etc, found it and when 30 is bridged to the battery's earth and tested with a Assark 620A multimeter I get 12.45 V when 30 is bridge with a wire to 87 I get a spark if not completely housed in the connectors ! so I've plugged all relays back in and turned the power on, I can hear the relay's trip when ignition is activated engine turns over but no noise from the fuel pump and the injection system does not activate,
I have fitted a new fuel pump a few months ago and the vehicle has not been driven at all, the engine did start the pump did pressurised the system but now seems to be dead, Brandshatch Morgan did say when they fitted a new pump two years ago ( car has not done one mile ) just cost me some £1600.00 they say they sorted out an earth problem, so this is the second new pump now fitted by me.
Any ideas on where I should be looking now ?

Kevin, When you turn the ignition on does the fuel pump start up to pressurise the system? It should then stop when this is achieved. if this doesn't happen check to see if you have power to the pump If not next check is fuse to fuel pump relay and then the fuel pump relay itself. The relays are frankly poor quality and the contacts can just fail to make or power the circuit or even fail to operate on the primary side. Go onto BHM site and select parts, then select your classic year, scroll to the end and you will find the electrical circuit diagram for your model and year and you can start to do a logical check of the wiring, contacts and components.Your relay will either be under the bonnet or under the dash. A finger on them when ignition is switched on will tell you if its functioning but you will still have to check for the switched power. Most electrical components are really outside the car by the very nature of the car and suffer with moisture corrosion so a good undo and remake of the fuses/relays and connectors inc earths often cures a multitude of problems. Don't forget to check the ECU connecter as well!

The inertia switch is the last step in the supply of power to the fuel pump. You may have power at the fuel pump relay, but if the inertia switch is open there will be no power to the fuel pump. I suggest your next step is to identify the inertial switch and check that the two wires are connected, and the button is pushed in

Has anyone got an idea what I should look at or replace first, any help with be most apprecated I had this problem, tried all sorts to no avail. In the end a local garage said try the spare key and hey presto - still no idea why but it runs fine with that key so no questions asked
