I had similar problems and although I thought the battery was ok and it turned over fine, it wasn't BHM listened to it via my phone and said try a jump start.
That worked and a new battery was the answer.

Thank you Tim! But a new battery was the thing I had changed. Now the new coil (cylinder 2 I think) and a new camsensor is fitted.
Let crank him for about 20/25 seconds… he doesn’t wake up.

The next days a little more work at him.

He‘s alive!

But not shure why. The last things I do: change the camsensor and one ignitioncoil. Than after a look at the wiringdiagram I found the earthpoints. A very little try to move the wires, but: tight.

Than the battery (after two days at the „fresher“) back in the car. Connect the OBD reader and turn the key for some informations.
Nothing wrong. Than turning the key full for a start. And I wonder: it sounds different to the last tries. Hold the key and let crank the engine. Oh, a little spark?

And, real, it fires up. A little struggling and shaking, but alive. Than switch off and a new try. Alive again. Also a few hours later.
And a little bit smoother.

In the moment it runs with the electric bridge at the fuelrelais behind the sparewheel. Tomorrow I‘ll connect the relais and will see what happens. If it‘s running more or less nice I‘ll do some Kilometers around the corners in the neighborhood. If this would be successful I drive to the guys from the local MOT-service for a professional OBD-test.

Very happy with the help here! Thank you all for your help and ideas!

Greets and Regards

René

I've not read the whole thread, but just noticed your car is 2018 Rene.

If it's still on the original Banner battery at 7+ years old it will definitely have lost some capacity and may well be about to fail completely

Thank you Jon for this idea, it looks like the battery is one of the main points to cure a little tired starting.

;-) the plywoodracer has got his third battery in one of the first steps to cure the problem.

Worth noting that modern engines don't have the "big fat" spark of old, probably due to shorter duration despite higher voltage, so more difficult to see especially in daylight.

That‘s the point I don‘t think about. With the relais back in place dead again after 100meters.

Back to the garage and fixed the bridge again, back to live and a six kilometer testdrive. Smells like old (VERY OLD) eggs.

Than a journey to the guys at Autoteile Henrich. Special FORD Part, Not available at free partdealers in Germany.

The FORD guys in Mainz are very strange. So not shure to buy it there. Also not available at free internetdealers in Germany.

Thinking about the next step. My daughter is just in London?

A little frustrated but also happy after some nice minutes with the MOG.

Rene,as I posted previously. Do look at those connectors below the relay(s). My friend who looks after several cars on the race circuit & normal private ones. He says it is a known fault & sometimes you can actually see the evidence of “arcing”. He has had 3 cars with the same fault in the last 5 years iirc.
The auto electrician who solved the 1st one, said same fault as known on older Land Rovers.

René, as I mentioned above the fuel pump controller jumpering was a very temporary "get you home" fix. Not surprised the exhaust smells strange as its probably over fuelling and may in time throw a MIL warning. Not sure if you saw my link but I bought one recently as a spare here. I'm sure there may be sources other than my China one but it arrived in a relatively short time.
