Exactly that, that's why the nearside king pin always wears first in my 20 years of Morganing.

All the ill fitting drain covers and poor highway maintenance appears first on the nearside verge and subsequently fills with water and general road sh1t of an abrasive nature, not rocket science is it laugh2

BUT she now pulls up straight in the dry. Hands off the steering wheel, however when the road is wet in moderate rain she pulls to the left which is a bit disconcerting on a motorway. I note depending on how wet after the 1st application of the brakes she is a lot better. Please note that the near side calliper has been fully serviced a couple of times. ( new pistons rubbers etc ) I think I know what’s going on but can’t prove it, as the near side wheel is not dragging. What do you morgan knowledgeable people think.
I have experienced exactly this on many cars over the years and it flags itself only after a prolonged drive on A or M ways with no braking at all for say 100 miles, I think it is the marginal throw out of the discs on the pads and after the first subsequent braking cycle the pads centralise themselves imho.

On my car when I tore it down to restore it there was hugely more rot in the nearside wood than the offside ... I put that down to it spending much more time wet due to puddles near the kerb.

Thanks for all the replies, interesting reading. I had thought it was caused by calliper tolerances being slightly different in that the near side older calliper was running the released pads a very small bit closer to the disc. Not binding but just clearing the water film a little bit more than the newer off side. The reason being the new off side calliper, whilst the same as the old near side, is manufactured by the replacement for Caparo, who have stopped trading. After reading your kind replies not sure replacing the near side will actually improve things. They are pricey.

Icepack, try bleeding the top nipple again on the new off side calliper if its pulling away from the disc it sounds like there's a tiny amount of air in there.

Fluid now changed. Think the problem has been found.
The near side old/ original calliper showed greater wear on the inboard pad than outboard. Off side calliper the pads had even wear. All 4 pads had a small “lip” on the outer edges as is normal & now chamfered off. Whilst there was no rubbing as such it was apparent that the in board pad near side was stiffer to move away from the disc compared to the outboard pad.
Methinks that the inboard pad has been slow to ease back, hence the extra wear. In the wet this possibly causes the near side disk to be a little warmer & so slightly dryer than the offside.
Guess time will tell as all sorted now.
Considering the problems I had with the off side calliper, hence the replacement ( subject of another thread) I think the callipers tolerances are a bit hit & miss if you are unlucky.

Slight corrosion in the caliper cylinders can cause such issues as well. Little used cars and their light weight means pads wear very slowly. I've sometimes exercised them by removing pads and pushing back each piston a few mm with a soft pry, then inserting hardwood strips a couple of mm thinner than pads and pumping brake pedal gently until it's hard. Then removing strips, prying out pistons as before and re-inserting pads. A good time to do this is during bi-annual fluid change.

Does cross-drilled disks help in wet conditions?
