I think they have spoilt the proportional relationships in the design of the top and boot. They've also destroyed the artistry in the shape of the wings. It's very brutal now, whereas previous models were gloriously elegant. Just my opinion, wouldn't expect anyone else to agree. I agree. I don't like these design changes either, even after getting used to them for quite some time now. Morgan has abandoned a proven design that couldn't be improved upon aesthetically in favor of more aggression and showmanship. It's similar to what Marcos Cars did when the beautiful original design became the Marcos Mantis Spider.

It's nice that we have a controversial topic. Admittedly, I find my 4/4 increasingly classic compared to the new Super Sport. But on the other hand, I think the Super Sport hard top and rear lines are incredibly courageous and unique. As others have said, there is a factor of getting used to it. The Super Sport may not appeal to everyone, but in my opinion, it is much more original than a fifth rehash of a Trad. If you want a Trad, you can choose from many, as I did. I could no longer afford a new Super Sport at this stage in my life, but that's not the point. I'm happy for everyone who gets one and would be delighted to finally see the first one on the road. Incidentally, when the BMW Plus8 came out, it was supposed to be a car that looked like a traditional model on the Aero platform. I always thought the proportions of the rear end looked a little ‘bent’ with a strange angle. I much prefer the new Super Sport design in its originality.

It makes the Midsummer look even more desirable but at circa £250k that’ll never happen for me having retired 10 years ago.
So I feel blessed to still enjoy my Plus 8 in the glorious South Devon scenery 😎🙏

The Midsummer has an elegant rear end in the style of the elegant 1930s Talbots etc., but in my opinion it is not an authentic Morgan rear end. The MS certainly satisfies a pronounced desire for harmony.

I agree with the hardtop. Something is wrong with it. BUT without it, it is a great car. They gave the Morgan a unique and modern face. They can not go on building cars for 60+ customers like me, who still haven't gotten over the fact that 20 years ago this strange folding roof was introduced, which completely ruined the line of the trads imho. So, the Supersports is younger, more modern, and I would love to have one besides my trad.

Hardtops on most cars have always destroyed the lines. The Merc Pagodas and what followed, and even the TR6 actually succeeded.
Unless a hardtop mimics the soft top, it will look weird. I still don't know why hardtops were not made the same shape as soft tops. Even with a fabric covered option. Rear windows are either too small, too big or a weird shape. The Trad hardtops have that strange smiley face shape'
This Supersport hardtop is a fishbowl. Way too big. Would look a lot better grey tinted too, and the slope which follows the rear panel is just awkward.

The latter is true, which is why I even paid extra for the old roof in 2003. The modern folding roof was cheaper. So, the Supersports is younger, more modern, and I would love to have one besides my trad. Wouldn't it have made more sense to completely abandon the 1930s design lines with the new car? To inspire younger potential customers? As it is with the Supersport, it's a bit like someone wearing a deerstalker hat and trendy white sneakers at the same time. To still incorporate some tradition, which is part of the brand identity, they could have built a modern design with references to the Morgan SLR.

I still don't know why hardtops were not made the same shape as soft tops. Can't be that difficult. My Honda S2000 had a super-neat hardtop which fitted precisely over the erected softtop. Lovely car, wonder where it is now..... ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2025/09/24/S2000-with-softtop.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2025/09/24/S2000-with-hard-topd583d2b90aebdab1.jpg)

I never realised the hardtop would fit over the existing soft top...bloody genius of design
