Hey Guys,
I have a 2003 plus 8 and I ve recently purchased a new steering wheel and hub. The car is equipped with air bags. How do I safely remove the drivers side airbag so that I can install new wheel? Any instructions online?

I would pull the fuse on the air bag first. Then look behind central pad for securing screws. Once removed the padding should lift off but be careful not to damage any wiring. This should reveal a central nut. Mark position of splined shaft to steering wheel to ensure straight ahead wheel position is maintained on replacement. Loosen nut a few turns then pull wheel loose from splines before fully removing nut and wheel.

You are presumably permanently removing the airbag. Be aware that an airbag warning light on during your MOT will cause your vehicle to fail the test, as it indicates a major safety defect.

The MOT tester checks that the airbag light comes on and then turns off within a few seconds of the ignition being switched on; if it stays illuminated, it signals that the airbag system may not function correctly in a crash, which is a critical safety risk.

"Defect = An airbag fitted as original equipment obviously missing, Category = Major" MOT airbag

There are detailed instructions for removing the USA airbag from the later Plus 8 and Roadster on the GoMog website. If you google "Morgan Steering Wheel Airbag Removal" the GoMog article should come up in your search results. I tried to copy and paste the link but couldn't figure out how to do it. Maybe someone else can figure it out. In any event, the airbag is mechanically operated, rather than electrically operated, so I don't believe there is a fuse that will disable it.

Good morning Guys,
I’ve managed to remove the 2 bolts on the backside of the Jag steering wheel. I thought the plastic cover would then pull off. Wrong! It won’t budge. Am I missing something?
I noticed a small latch on the backside but it doesn’t seem to be holding anything.
Any ideas?

Have you backed out the air bag de-activation screw then backed out the bolt under the small cover that holds air bag? Check out the fuller illustrated instructions on the link above provided by Paul F.
