Chaps, another little question, the petrol tank, I assume that it must be vented somewhere however each time I go to fill up, the locking tank cap is very hard to remove but when it does come out, thee seems to be an in rush of air. I have never noticed this on the previous 4 Morgans which all had the same type of locking cap, all bright ideas gratefully received.

Later cars have a closed system only venting fume to the engine above certain rpm to reduce emmissions.
If there is a vacuum there is a relief valve. So when you open it you can find it pressurised

I give the inner rotating bits of the petrol cap a squirt of silicon spray a couple of times a year.

Once off I put a smear of silicon grease on the white nylon part of inner cap, repeating every three months.

We have a spare key for the petrol tank in the car. Sooner or later it will crack while trying to open.

Apart from o rings and such like , I never use silicon anywhere on any car, especially a spray form - if it gets on your paintwork it will cause all sorts of issues.

The Ethanol in petrol can cause the plastic parts to swell, I had this problem on my KTM M/C. The remedy was to sand the plastic down slightly.
