Good morning.
Love a classic car ( currently a TR6 owner) but wanting a little more umpphh ( like my motorbike too) and reliability of a newer engine . Hence I’m here and wanting to tour Europe in a Morgan one day.

Will possibly use it even daily to work……

Looking at the £30,000 to £40,000 budget that has a few essential extras/mods attached. I was thinking I should look at a Ford V6 is this the Roadster? Love the looks of the Brooklands model too

Central Morgan haven't described it correctly. Even the name Brooklyn is wrong. I has 295bhp.

They have had it 16 months and it was at one point at 36k, so haggle.

It depends on what you want to do with your Morgan. I suggest that you go try a few different models. The 4/4 is good for chuckability. The plus 6 is good for straight acceleration and the plus 4 is a good mixture of the two. If you want to go extended touring, then look at a 4 seater for the space to store luggage.

I do like seeing those new to Morgan exploring and unravelling the puzzle. It's arguable the most enjoyable and engaging part, without the baggage of collected bias, which we all get over time.

My Green Room was surprisingly similar to yours. In 2008 I moved from an MGBGTV8 with a budget of up to £35k, and enjoyed an epic journey of discovery. Initially seeking a Plus 8, I was chosen by a Roadster from 2005, which I still have. It was a good choice for me.

Well I'm the new owner of a 2019 Roadster 110 Anniversary Edition with all the bells and whilstles (power steering, 5 link adjustable rear suspension, adjustable front suspension, uprated brakes) which I have purchased specifically for extended touring. You will maybe just about get a 3.7 ltr Roadster at the top end of your budget or a higher spec 3ltr one otherwise.

For now (and maybe for good... don't tell the missus!), I still have the 1999 4/4 which I got in 2017 for fun on the B-roads, which it excels at with skinny tyres and no power steering. Bloody great fun, but a bit more of an effort on longer journey's and faster roads. I woudn't really try and compare the 4/4 vs the Roadster - the experiences are so far apart.

My original intention upgrade wise was a +4 Works Edition with the re-mapped ECU and uprated exhaust system - I lost out on Steve Morris' (former Morgan CEO) low mileage one at Silverstone auction - which I think would have been fine for touring, but the Roadster popped up at a non-Morgan dealership at a decent price so I snapped that up! What's not to like about more power? Oh, that's right... higher insurance costs and naffer fuel consumption, but I don't really worry about those things!

Dave W is the best person to give you the comparitive merits of the uprated +4 versus the Roadster.

As important is your travelling luggage. I have a choice of fitted Classic Travelling Luggage fitted cases (formerly Hills Alive) behind the seats vs some Morgan branded Connelly Leather branded overnight bags which slot in, and a leather suitcase (identical to the branded ones, bar the embossed logo) versus a 120ltr waterproof holdall. I use the fitted cases and the holdall for longer trips and the nice leather stuff for long weekends (...or if I want to kid people on I'm posh!).

As others have said... test drives, or even weekend hire, will give you a personal flavour of the choices.

That was a nice 110 Works Edition and could have been purchased at a very attractive price in May after the vendor (a dealer) tried it on Collecting Cars. Iconic haven't released the sales price, so I wonder if it didn't sell at auction but perhaps was touted after the auction to the interested parties.

Sir Hector, as everyone has said, you need to try a few models and see what works for you.

I love the nimbleness of a Plus 4 but equally appreciate the laziness of the V6 as well as the outright pace when you put your foot down. I've gone back and forth over the years as each captivates in it's own way. Ultimately, there is no wrong answer, simply what suits you, and your use, most.

Welcome to TM SirHector. With that budget you're in the early Roadster 3.7 V6 price bracket. The Brooklands versions were built around 2014.
