A mate of mine has just received an extremely generous payment from porsche to swap to a new electric macan after the stop drive notice was imposed on his taycan.......... If Porsche are doing that often it'll certainly hit the profits.....🤷🏻‍♂️

I'd imagine that the ev, not ev....... we're baning ice cars... no we're not.... it's happening in 2025/2030/2035 or..??...... indecision, is a nightmare for manufacturers if you're trying to plan years ahead for new models....🤯

I've had 7 Porsches and perhaps I've been lucky, but they've all been ok and I have a good relationship with a local dealer.....

I read somewhere that the Taycan issues were caused by a change in adhesive used to seal some parts of the electrical system?

But I'd presumed that Porsche were recalling them and fixing them, On a recent trip to Scotland I spotted at least 5 or 6 being driven, I kept pointing them out to 'er indoors because I rather like the look of them and they do them in some decent colours. Not that I've got any chance of affording one though.

Don't overlook that good looking trendy youngsters will eventually become beardy weirdy old farts, but beardy weirdy old farts will never become good looking trendy youngsters.
Would you buy a used Morgan from a good looking trendy youngster ?

Might be a tough sell for the advertising agency with a typical Morgan demographic.

Porsche and MCC need to accept in order to survive they need to produce cars that customers want to buy instead of chasing a market that doesn't exist.

My niece has a Taycan, which unlike my Tesla, she had to back to the dealership for upgrades to the software, I think the initial "do not drive" edict may have been down to flexible brake pipe routing...?

As for the price of buying a pre owned Taycan, say coming back to the dealership after a 3 year lease deal, given the huge depreciation it seems they may be suffering...? However the maintenance and cost of Porsches, has to be factored in... often referred to by owners as the Porsche tax causing many Porsche owners to seek out local Porsche specialist garages. I tend to thing that independent specialists keen to take on Taycans may be few and far between..?

As for Porsche parts availability going forward...?

If you watched the German news channel vid, it seems regardless of the much wider appeal of Porsche as a vehicle will ever find a buyer, but as has been typed all the confusion by on then off regulatory changes have truly messed up manufacturing in the West, along with the Trumpets on and of then on again strategy, fouling everything up.... The winners seem likely to be the Chinese.... How dumb is that..? Remember saying at the time when watching the news report when Clinton anointed China with Americas most favoured nation status, that he had sold out America`s industry....And if a simple chap like me found that all to obvious, it seems the brains in the game went mad in the dash for cash, coining the term Greed is good..Sigh ! smile

Porsche are doing just that. The GT cars, including the Sport Classic, are unobtainable, unless you have an incredibly strong buying history with Porsche; anyone who has bought one at list is sitting on a vehicle with ridiculously high residual values. Models like the Macan EV and Turbo have long waiting lists and Porsche don't struggle to sell the 911. Boxsters are available but this, imho, is due to there being more competition in that segment; whereas, if you want a four seat sports car, the 911 is pretty much the only vehicle in the market place.

It is no secret that I love 911s, in particular the 993, 964 and older. I was chatting with a friend yesterday, who took his first test drive in a 1970s 911 last weekend and he was amazed at how capable and uncompromised it felt. He was comparing it to other 70s classics he'd owned and felt it hammered home the point as to why so many auto makers have gone by the wayside and yet Porsche is still here making the 911. I have to say I agree. In 2008 I drove a 1973 911 Carrera RS; it had always been a 'dream car' for me and I had the chance to drive one that was for sale (not knowing prices were about to go insane!). The car in question was a little untidy, needed some work, but was matching numbers. I drove it with trepidation, thinking 'they say never meet your heros' but after the drive I was blown away with just how brilliant it was. It still sticks with me as to how good a vehicle it was. Porsche captured something special with the 911 and to my eyes, it is one of the automotive icons.

😂😂😂
That is so close to the truth........
It could be a noggin photo or a shot from the miscellany...........😂

Somehow though the Italians/MMC/designer team seem to think that the typical Morgan buyers look like George and Amal Clooney.....and have a similar net worth.....

Simon............ How much was the 2.7RS in 2008.........?????????🤦🏻‍♂️

afaik........ the Taycan issue was related to the batteries....... He wasn't allowed to charge it to the max, charge it near his house/a property and had to take it back to the dealer regularly to be inspected. He argued, rightly in my opinion, that the car was no longer fit for purpose.
Porsche basically gave him almost double its actual trade-in value as long as he bought a new macan EV.
It being an offer he couldn't refuse, he didn't...... and he now has a new Macan EV with huge spec.....🤷🏻‍♂️

iirc asking £140,000 - it was LHD, white with red RS decals, was a touring but had been made to look like a lightweight at some point.

The other 'miss' was being offered a 964 Turbo 3.6 with X88 kit from factory - in a beautiful colour - which was up for £50,000; however, the dealer wasn't keen on taking my 968 Club Sport in part ex, so I didn't pursue it. It was later owned by a Mr Button...

The '73 RS was a 911 that dealers couldn't give away at one point... "why would I want a 911 with less features" being the general criticism. I remember speaking to two dealers who had both bought tidy ones for circa £10,000 in the 80s.

964 Turbos are now stratospheric, with the 3.6 version being the most valuable of the 'non-special' 911 Turbos of that era. The film Bad Boys has a lot to answer for grin2
