I would love to move to a town or village that Julian BB is describing………Could any of these fit the bill? …...Swanage?, Bridgenorth?, Bury? Tunbridge Wells ?

The early morning freshly baked bread aroma drifting on the air from a bakery, only seconded by freshly baked sandwich dipped in the dripping with loads of bacon.

Walking into Vincent and Jerrom of Taunton old parts/sales room. Triumph/Norton/BSA main dealers in the late 60's and early 70's.. Old wooden floor boards with the smell of new British bikes, Castrol R, rubber tyres and other oils all mixed together.. parts suspended off the ceiling and close packed bikes everywhere. I can close my eyes and still visualize and smell it... bloody lovely....

Remember exactly the same smell at Watson & Cairns in Leeds. Used to spend much time in there buying parts for my BSA - 1970 - ahh the memories.

The best smell ever? I think there must be a range? Place one, two or something like that? And I wonder no German answers until now?

So my first ideas: the special smell of a factory fresh MOG. And it keeps ist for a long time. And than, when I open the garage: yes, that‘ts it. Also my wife thinks a nice and special. And: my wife with her favorite perfume.

But now, after a lot other ideas, in my top ten: my old VESPA burning twostroke oil. And open a class English Tiptree Marmelade.
And yes, my fresh handbrewed coffee.

And a lot of the other here listed smells.

Greets René

A proper engineering workshop and especially the smell of Trefolex cutting paste.

Might sound a bit odd this, but the smell of cowshit on a hot motorcycle exhaust is very evocative.

Not much romance left in you lot. No wonder old Al went for a Ferrari as his last ride and not a Morgan!
