Understood, but is anyone able to confirm the Hazards use the TSM or not?
or does anyone have a better circuit diagram that shows the hazard components?

or does anyone have a better circuit diagram that shows the hazard components? Welcome to the world of TSM failure... The TSM can give a whole host of weird faults and so best just get a new one and plug it in and see if it works. The hazard unit (red or orange relay) is an easy to obtain item but I would go with TSM first... Good luck with the fault diagnosis. And unfortunately there is no other schematic/wiring diagram available so your stuck with the one in the parts book....

You could try unplugging the TMS and seeing if any of the hazards still work.

"3) With the TSM still unplugged I tried the Hazards and they still work (incorrectly as before, but working all the same)" This is why I am so confused. The indicators work fine, the hazards and the indicators share the same relay and the hazards do the same thing when the TMS is unplugged.

If not the TSM, then it could be more of an old school electrical fault. The wires (and their insulation) to the rear lights are very thin and can be prone to chaffing and assorted shorts and open circuits where they go through the boot lid hinge. Could be worth checking but it's worth setting aside longer than you expect to get in about them and getting everything fixed and back together.

If the turn signals work okay then I would look first under the dash, as the wiring to the turn signals themselves seems to be okay. The parts book I have only has the electrics for post 2014 cars, but there is a flasher unit shown. I would replace that if you can work out which it is.

Apologies for suspecting the TSM unit Biggle but it is notoriously unreliable. Applying a bit of logic pretty much the only component that would cause your issue are the diodes fitted to loom side contacts on the 12 pin instrument switch connector. Specifically pins 8 and 9. You haven't said as far as I can see which side is not working when hazards are selected but if its left check diode attached to pin 8 if right, diode attached to pin 9. These are needed to isolate left from right indicator feeds when hazards not in use and I suspect one has gone open circuit. Note polarity if replacing - the wiring diagram shows black marked end (cathode) connecting to each of above mentioned pins. The other ends go to a common pin on connector probably pin 6, but this will be obvious when viewing connector.

Impressed with your diagnosis Richard, as ever. I think you are the only person I know who can make any sense out of the circuit diagrams in the parts manual 😁.

Thanks for the feedback so far.. .do you know if the 12 pin instrument connector in the bundle of leads around the fuses or is it literally directly behind the instruments?
