I’m in the process of reading The Mechanic, by Marc Priestley.
A fascinating insight into his life as a Formula One mechanic and member of the pit crew for McClaren.
Entertaining and informative; well worth a read.

Just about to start "Dirty Secret" by Jessie Sholl - nowhere near as racy as its title suggests! It's about the psychopathy of compulsive hoarding - a subject with some resonance as the in-laws are hoarders. We 'cured' them of this by moving them into a flat 5 years ago, helping them sell their dilapidated house, getting their hoarded rubbish disposed of & possessions they couldn't part with put into storage. In just five years, they have turned a new-build luxury flat into another sh*thole...

Right. I must declare an interest on this one; the author is an old friend and customer of mine from when he lived in Paris.

He has produced a novel based on his experiences working out on a gas contract in Australia & the far East. It is by a long chalk the most un-PC thing I've read in years, and most of the characters and jokes therein are familiar to me as Dave has regaled me with them, propped up at my bar, pint in hand, so it felt like being reunited with a bunch of old pals. My boozer makes a cameo appearance later on in the book.

Definitely not one for the easily offended or those with a sensitive nature.

All the talk of Mary Hopkin on another thread reminded me that I recently read Tony Visconti’s autobiography. The 2 were married at one time and he produced some of her hits.

If you are interested in the 1970’s music scene, it is well worth a read. David Bowie comes out of it as a decent chap. Mr Bolan on the other hand ...

I am part way through The Gyles Brandreth book on Prince Philip: The Final Portrait

It is an interesting read - especially when it comes to 20th century history. He spends a bit too much time debunkng tabloid rumour but I can forgive that for the insight he provides in other areas.

Meteorology for Masters and Mates, Charles H. Brown, Seventh Edn, 1933
Sent to me by a fellow photographer. He found it in a charity shop for £1 but couldn't get on with it so thought of me! smile

Mrs F was given this recently, by the author. Read it this afternoon. Some fabulous images. I found out about it last year and tried to buy a copy - and failed. If you see one in a second hand bookshop, grab it.
