A choke!
That brings back memories.
I even remember winter starting after turning the engine with the crank handle to "loosen" the engine.
I also had an Austin Maxi with a pull cable connected to flaps to block part of the rad to get faster warming up in winter.

Some years ago a lad took his girlfriend and two others for a flight taking off from Southend (SND) airport as the aircraft started to lift the pilot's girlfriend pulled out the carb heat and hung her handbag on it, the aircraft crashed (due to reduced power) fortunately nobody was seriously hurt.

Part of my morning routine - a little tickle of choke and off. My MG still has a working 'twist lock' - (although I am gulty of occasionally leaving it on).

The lock has failed on the Mog, but I'm going to replace over Easter.

I am definitely a pegging free zone smile
