Something you've missed out on then Howard. I don't use mine a lot, but I like having it it in the the garage, fiddling with bits now and then, and going out for lunch or a potter around the north yorks moors. Don't think I've ever been out without someone saying 'lovely car' or giving me a thumbs up.

I had an FY23. And I like the fact that it has traction control, but the "classic" headlights... The only thing I don't like is that awful steering wheel with the airbag... On occasion on slippy wet roads, the traction control would have come in handy.......the reason why I went to the one of the later MY22 was the wood dash and wood steering wheel option, so evocative of a bygone era. Whilst the gear lever is a little modern, it seems to get lost in all the polished wood.

As for the trad being out of date, I guess mine suits me as many would reckon I am well past my sell by date too...hinted at by my chosen forum I.D. (-:
I think the MMC have and are doing wonderfully well in maintaining production of what for some is a rather special motoring concept that has evolved over time and has attracted an enthusiastic customer base who also have evolved over time, much as I have observed in Porsche circles over many years.

I have driven both the CX and the trad but owned neither and therefore have no axe to grind. The difference between them is that the trad is genuinely an old car even if made recently. It crashes and bangs from pothole to pothole,. the chassis is very flexible which is as well because the suspension is limited and crude, the steering is weird to anyone used to modern cars and the accommodation is poor. The CX feels like a modern sports car and has the handling and performance to back that up. But the charm is missing and the obvious BMW bits in the trad style cockpit make it seem like a kit car.
There are many better modern cars than the CX. But the trad is simply out of date. I bought neither Howard, I bought a Trad because I wanted a classic "old car" with a measure of reliability and that's just what I got.

I'm with you Keith, every criticism of the trad Morgan is just why I love them, if I wanted comfort and non involving driving I would have possibly bought an MX5.

The tank on the CX cars is smaller than on trads. From memory the trad had a 55l tank. The Plus Four has a 38l tank and there is reputedly a 33l "usable" volume. A bit of confusion! It seems that 250 miles is a rule of thumb for range. On my car the fuel warning comes on when just below the 1/4 mark. The extra range left when this happens is a bit unknown. I have done 30 miles at this stage with a bit more for the needle to go. Scotland trip just done. 2100 miles using 45(approx) gals = 46.7mpg. I will check this when I top up the tank next time but expecting a similar figure. The quoted tank capacity is an anomaly. The handbook states 38l (approx). In theory this should, at 45mpg give a 376 mile range. HMMMM. The 33l figure reduces this to 327 miles. HMMMM. The warning light is quoted in the handbook as leaving 6l left. This might be fairly accurate but is it to actual fuel or to a residual "sump" minimum. Is this where the 33l usable comes in? Surely this would be known by MMC? This why I use 250 miles as a guide. A friend with a Plus Six does the same. 250 miles at 45mpg =5.6 gals. - 25.4l That's 8l or 13l left. Which is it? I think I need to do a proper mpg test again using miles v top up. I'll start with the next top up to get a Scotland trip mpg. I WON'T be doing a run to empty test! I'll post some photos soon. As an aside, no fuel issues for the trip. 550 miles home to hotel each way. I added one extra fuel stop to keep extra in the tank but fuel available everywhere. Cost per litre stayed the same over the 9 days at the same stops up and back. Fuel on our daily runs not a problem. The A9 north of Perth is having major work done through to 2029 in a couple of areas, looks like dual carriageway upgrade from 2-way. One short delay as traffic was stopped to allow works traffic to cross. No lights, just Stop/Go hand signs. Next year....yes please!

Having had trads with often very unreliable fuel gauges, you develop an instinctive habit of using miles covered to be a more accurate benchmark, than what the gauge is showing, it does stay full for a while and then leaps towards empty. But over time I've found where on the gauge requires so many gallons to fill, to be pretty accurate and consistent even if the gauge itself may misread. I don't use the trip (still reads same mileage as speedo, and I rarely note the odometer, and still found my empirical observations to hold pretty true.......touch wood. Sounds like you had a great time.

I'm with you Keith, every criticism of the trad Morgan is just why I love them, if I wanted comfort and non involving driving I would have possibly bought an MX5. As stated in my former posts, it's not black or white. I own a 4/4 trad since more than 30 years and keep enjoying it, I take care of it as a family car till one of my sons will look after it. Beginning of 2023 I bought new a late model year PlusFour 2022, because apart from the comfort and compliance with emission rules, I wanted the wooden dash, in my case the manual shifting and I wanted a MotoLita SW as replacement. That's for me a real Morgan feeling, so I did not mind not to have no ESP or airbags. I think however if someone is in the market for a PlusSix, I would always go for one with ESP. Last weekend I had a very nice tour in the Northern part of The Netherlands, in my trad 4/4, and I loved it. it is now garaged in the North as my PlusFour is at home in the garage in the South of Holland. I was glad on Sunday evening after dinner at 21 h that I could drive in my Tintop back home, a 230 km leg. 30 years ago I should do that in my 4/4. Although in good health and condition at 69 years I do feel the 30 years of age in difference. In he CX the way back should be more easy to make. They are all Morgans. We have to cherish the marque. The aging Morgan population is well served with the CX(V) generation. Nothing against MX5's or Porsches or whatever, but I should always try to drive Morgans as long as it is possible. So let us be positive!!

I'm with you Keith, every criticism of the trad Morgan is just why I love them, if I wanted comfort and non involving driving I would have possibly bought an MX5. The CX has an involving ride all right, just doesn't crash as much as a trad on uneven surfaces. I actually preferred the old lever arm rear suspension of the earlier 4/4 like my '85 4/4, with much higher ride and greater ground clearance, a little more bouncy on undulating roads, much lighter car than the later trads and that was a great driving and more involving compared to my later heavier more powerful trads.I'm sure owners of the much earlier cars will say exactly the same thing about my '85 4/4 had gone soft and not as involving as their cars. I'm just grateful I can keep enjoying a Morgan, and as much as I enjoyed my first Morgan. back in the 80's.....I doubt I could get in it (easily) these days, and would only savour it for much shorter journey's than I currently undertake. Out shopping today spent half an hour chatting with the Halford staff as they spotted it in the car park..........people just love to see them and I feel lucky to own one.

The Plus Four is my third Morgan. No. 1 a 1993 4/4 Ford 1.6 cvh efi. Very nice car. Fuel pump failed so while replacing it I checked the fuel system. Drained the tank ( a drain plug was there), flushed and 1gal put in to check what the gauge showed. New pump, filter to protect it and new flexi pipes. 55l tank. No.2...2002 Plus8 Gems system, 55l tank. Did a good mileage in it. Made a list of jobs for long term keeping but a test of a Plus Four impressed Mrs sospan so.... No.3. 2023 Plus Four Smaller tank but better mpg! More comfort, great performance, better build, a modern car in a Morgan skin. Will probably see me out! It's a Morgan evolved from the trads. I do wish the tank was bigger but not an obstacle to ownership. It's a bit like EV range management but a lot easier! I noted several EV's at charging stations in a M'way service comfort stop. Owners sitting in them on phone, reading, napping and still there when I came out of the rest area. Dedicated Tesla chargers looked ok. Having done several Scotland trips fuel stops are chosen from knowledge. M'way services only as a last resort, satnav shows petrol stations for added help in new areas.
