I made Gaiters from a piece of neoprene sheet.

MOT passed today, the tester said it was very clean underneath, I replied, that's 8 coats of waxoil you're looking through

Have you viewed it with the front jacked up so that the rebound springs are under compression? Without any bellows to absorb compression, I wonder how well it will stay in place.

It has been a couple of years since I installed them and they are still in place.

There is guy whom lives round the corner from me and has a 3.7 Roadster in black. The paintwork was baddly swirled and the car looked dull. I invited him to mine for a machine polish and he was amazed at the differnece! It was lovely getting to know more about him amd his family....he still has his uncle's old WW11 motorike in his garage!

I let him have a go in a "propper" (😉) Morgan...sans PAS. He LOVED the Supercharged V8, but loved the Plus 4 just as much.

Gave mine a quick go over with the buffer and waxed them.

Fitted a lovely hand painted number plate.

Fettled the flyoff handbrake. For some time it hasn't been easy to get it lock on. Would just release itself so had to leave the car in gear. Not great for hill starts either/
Having removed the transmission tunnels, removed the handbrake and quadrant. Careful check on the bench showed that the pawl wasn't fully engaging, probably due to wear. I fitted a new quadrant last year but the new pawl from MR had been incorrecly machined, so I still have the original. A judiciuos removal of a sliver of the back of pawl taking care to ensure the angle let the pawl fully engage. Now it fits closely in the quadrant with a bit of clearance. I now have a working handbrake

So I decided to install the excellent Wolf Performance pedal kit and touring dampers today after 600 miles of Highland driving this week and yearning for a little more planted feel round corners.

The car, looked after Jimmy since new until my ownership last year was excellent but I felt the Axo dampers could do with a replacement, despite being lowish miles, I just wanted to see if Cain's dampers made a difference. After installing (a very simple job), I test drove and have now set at 3 clicks from full.

I'll also change the springs later on, when I fit hard chromed kingpins as part of my planned upgrades, but for now the car does not knock over bumps the same and round corners is much more stable.



I've not altered the brake pedal position as yet, but the pedals make a huge difference. I was finding on a 300 mile trip to the Highlands this week that the roller became tiring after a longer trip, these feel light and the positioning allows you to get perfect for your foot height and width. There are subtle design elements in the pedals, a slight angle where the accelerator is position towards driver foor, to be more natural.

I too can give a thumbs up for Cains shocks. When I needed to change mine I knew he had been developing them and had been holding off but my rears were next to useless so I bought some adjustable spax options and as I had a set of standard Bilsteins on the shelf I fitted them. When a pal later needed new shocks I told him to go with Cain and I fitted them with him... he won't mind me saying he has two left hands! Are they better than my fit...... you bet, worlds apart. Yes I have never been an oficionado of front shocks on a classic, I have talked in depth on the matter before, But the rear end is important. Most adjustable shocks for a mog on the back end seem to have an harshness about them which increases far more than the effect of increasing the damping quality as you move up the scale to get the damping level as you'd like it. Cain's do not suffer with this. as you move through the scale you don't seem to lose the comfort effect yet the ride stiffens in a way that limits the travel. I'm probably now going to be looking for a reason to swap mine out which of course is ridiculous but I'll bet I end up fitting the rear shock's as that little devil is already chirping in my ear!
