Hi all,

I need some urgent help, Monty has just spat his belt at Castle Combe!

Please can someone check their Duratec Plus 4 belt number for me?

You're looking for something like PK6-1249.

Thanks, we have 30 minutes until the local moror factor closes.

Dave.

Sorry Dave, only just seen this post. I keep a spare under the seat PK6-1306 That big number is the length in mm apparently.

Thanks mate.

Unfortunatley we ran out of time, so we had to take a punt as the factor was shutting.

We bought a 6PK1305 which is only 1mm out on your PK61306, sadly when we offered it up it came up short!

As the diffence is only 1mm out from your spare, I would thought the tensioner would take up such a small difference so something is off???

Could you show me a photo of the belt run please?

I've routed it logically and the only way I can see it would fit, but I neeed to sense check the run.

We're screwed now as everything is shut, so we may have to get a b&b frown2

Many thanks, Dave.

That seems quite long, I suspect you may have hydraulic power steering, either that or your early Duratec Plus 4 has a different pulley setup to my 2012 model?

I can 100% confirm PK61305 fitted perfectly on Monty, and Doug confirmed his spare is only 1mm longer (PK61306), so this is definitely the size to fit to a Duratec Plus 4 without power steering.

My original belt didn't seem to like a sustained track workout yesterday at Castle Combe, when Monty's tuned Duratec saw many laps where we took the engine over 8,000rpm evil

In it's defense Monty's original belt was 14 years old, but I will be carying a spare from now on. Many thanks to everyone who stepped in to help during my hour of need, especially Doug who's confimation that his spare belt was PK61306 forced me to look again at how my replacement should run cheers

Dave (& Monty).

Hi Dave, Sorry I didnt get back to you. We are up in Yorkshire for a few days and I had left my phone on charge in the hotel room.
I seem to recall that my spare was not an exact match to the original down to the last mm but generally, with that spring loaded tensioner, you should be able to get away with a few mm either side anyway. Incidentally, when i bought the spare, i drew a sketch of the routing on the packaging sleeve and keep it under the passenger seat.
Pleased to hear you succeeded with the repair and Monte performed well at the Combe.
