Have I missed something or is that a bit of a 'damning' assumption? nono

Actually, I thought it was a bit of light humor. laugh2

Fair enough, sorry I got it wrong but a smiley instead of a finger wagging no-no would have expressed it more eloquently.

smile Believe it or not, there is a store in Amsterdam called "The Engish Hatter" that is more English than anything in Britain these days...

Totally agree, pls don't leave us just yet frown

I think you may have slightly misunderstood the post you refer to as in my interpretation the accusation was aimed at 'some' and not 'all'

Most importantly this forum is for expressing views and we must respect each others even if we don't agree smile . We can only begin to understand each others opinions if we are able to express them.

Keep posting thumbs

PS on a forum like this I can even 'argue' with someone who owns a Pink Panther wink

No, I never was a politician..though I have had the sad occasion to bring down some.

Roads in Canada are wide enough for anything (assuming a good suspension). Roads there are much wider than UK or European fare of course, and there is no one on them. smile We live 40 miles from the nearest police station and they only way to get them near is to invite them to the BBQ.

We find the small roads in the UK/US need a slim car. 64" was ok...but the Works and I decided on 60" for our mog in Canada and it was made considerably lighter than stock. The engine compliments that.

The biggest problem we have had with Aero width was in the UK. on B/C roads. It was super splendid on Motorways but my wife and I prefer the little windy stuff in any country we travel.

Chacun a son gout.

Lorne (now mogging Province and heading SE)

P.S. Come to think of it, Canada (and Australia) would be the most ideal arenas for an Aero and a winding country road lover. Assuming the suspension could manage the byways, the width would be no factor on even the smallest country lanes we have. If they were importable, I seriously would consider one.

But back to the topic the new logo does not bother me in the slightest (despite the ugliest "O" I think I have ever seen). Neither do I think it has some sinister connotations. I would agree with an earlier posting and suspect that it is a tidying up exercise clumsily executed.

If I may introduce myself. My name is Brian Vickers from Jersey.

Welcome Brian from another Brian V, though in this case it's Voakes; not Vickers! cheers I have also used SGT, as we live locally in Eton when we are in the UK. Interesting to hear your Morgan story, as we actually took reversed decisions on the choice of our current Morgan's. laugh2

I remember thinking at the time that the Aero represented good value, compared with a properly specced Plus 8. Unfortunately the price has moved steadily upwards since those early halcyon days and it is now over £70K for an Aero. confused2

Anyway, we do look forward to hearing more from you even though you find us a trifle grumpy. wine grin2

Cheers

Brian

P.S. I just thought that I would add this from another Morgan DG: "Charles---your company lives and thrives in two different worlds. Aero 8 land----the land of hedge fund managers and trophy wives and unlimited expense accounts and knowing the one-way streets of St. Moritz. This is the world I think you know---growing up from privilege and public school and never eating powdered eggs."

I think that I need to trade in Head Office for a 'trophy wife', can't think why comments such as this, based on the car I own, make me grumpy; must be an age thing I suppose! oldgit laugh2

P.P.S. For all the other Aero 8 owners - Another TM Service

As a Trad owner I am yet to feel anything less than a valued member of an inclusive discussion group here on Talk Morgan. So it is with dismay that I read comments about there being an Trad v Aero 8 bias on this site. Why a discussion over a company logo change requires old battle lines to be drawn on a dg that celebrates all Morgans is lost on me.

Did Simon not state "a Morgan is a Morgan" as the foundation of Talk Morgan on the thread in the Trad area the last time this topic was raised?

Trent,
As the one who started this thread I would like to make some observations.
I do think that the change is a pity. Not a pity because there is a change, but a pity that it is to make it so alike to another car logo - the Mini. The current one is definitely a Morgan the new could be a new model from Mini until you get close enough to read Morgan.
I am glad you made your comments re acceptance - I too have a Trad and feel very happy here on TM too, I also believe a morgan is a morgan! I would LOVE an Aero but the bank balance says no and I am VERY happy and content with my 4/4.

This is NOT anything remotely to do with either an Aero OR a Trad - it is about how we see the image and uniqueness of Morgan as a manufacturer. I for one believe the current logo does demonstrate this uniqueness. The new one will, imo, change the image to "Just any other company" I believe this will be to the detriment of Morgan and its future wellbeing.
