I don't have my Roadster just yet, however I'm interested to know one or two things peculiar to the Trads when cleaning. Specifically:
1. SS spoked wheels. What is the best technique to clean them?
2. I don't intend using a jet wash on the body (I've owned other 'open' or nearly open engined cars before where the engine is vulnerable to water. But any tips or tricks to cleaning would be welcome.
3. Anything else?!

I always cover the COLD engine with a waterproof sheet, to prevent water getting onto the plugs and plug leads.
I use PVC covered cloth just like the table cloths the French use. It works for me.

Or as a temporary cover when heavy rain starts and the is still at home?? A cover over the engine is a good idea - did that with the +4 as plugs etc. sit between the cams - just a sheet of polythene was sufficient.

Me too also, plastic over the engine. As for the wheels I have only just acquired a car with SS wheels, my intention is to try some spray on Jif or Cif type bathroom cleaner, quick broddle about with a brush, rinse and I reckon that should do it. Looking forward to getting home to play with it tomorrow!

For wheels a very useful and cheap tip given to me in 2007 - can recommend using Tesco Daily Shower cleaner or similar. Not aggressive/acidic as many can be. Spray on wet wheel, leave and light brush to loosen up then rinse/wash etc off. Works well and non streaky, shine etc. Used on all our cars whether wires, alloys etc

I shall look out for a bottle.
I've not owned stainless wires before and have no idea how they should be cleaned or if they can be damaged. I don't use anything other than warm soapy water on my other cars (alloy) wheels.
I'm told cleaning them is cheaper and better exercise than a gymn.

For the wire wheels, use a wire wheel brush: http://morgan-spares.com/images/accessories/ww_brush.jpgFor washing, I use a pail with soapy water, a sponge and another pail of rinse water. I wash just about 1/4 of the car with the soapy water, and then dry it off immediately with a micro towel. The car is so small, the wash doesn't take too long. My Volvo wagon takes about 4 times as long to wash.

Neilda, 'suggest you run some light oil or WD40 along the wing beadings before you wash, helps to keep the old corrosion away! I use a traffic film remover on the wires and hose with a jet or power washer. Enjoy your new roadster and don't forget to post some pics!
