As promised

Width 155mm. Height. 190mm. Length. 305mm

Charlie I've given you the measurement in the Euro rubbish we have to use, hopefully we won't end up with a shuttle style problem and you get a box big enough to fit a 3 wheeler in. wink.

Thank you again!

I took 4 year of mechanical drafting so I am decent enough at conversions from Euro-rubbish to American-gibberish.

(For those who are not good at it and want to know it roughly equals 6 x 7.5 x 12 inches)

Similar roots, but at least you have the metric system... what do we have? exactly! Who knows? nobody, that's who. United States customary units, because, "The United States is the only industrialized nation that does not mainly use the metric system in its commercial and standards activities..." this calls for a doh

Several numerical differences from the imperial system are present.

The vast majority of U.S. customary units have been defined in terms of the meter and the kilogram since the Mendenhall Order of 1893 (and, in practice, for many years before that date). These definitions were refined in 1959.

25.4mm to the inch and 40 thou to the millimetre.
I worked for an American engineering company for 15 years and all measurements were in imperial.
We even had to convert European customers metric measurements into imperial before machining the parts!
Happy days.

Mr. asbojohn, if I could bother you once more about this ammo box topic. In my searching I found WWI ammo boxes, brass hardware on fine crafted dovetailed jointed wooden box with a brown leather handle. The issue is they are slightly larger in 2 of 3 directions and I was wondering if you could let me know if there was ample room for this size box.

Would 12 11/16" X 4 1/2" X 8" fit? LxWxH (322.25 x 114.3 x 203.2 mm)

Charlie,

The issue will be how is it hinged, and how does the lock work.

Mine has space around it but it needs space to hinge upwards, and the lock mechanism has what I an best describe as swivel which needs space.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow for you.

It is hinged similar to the one that you have and the latch seems to require less space to operate. To unlatch, it seems you push down in the center of the latch on the top of the box and it unhooks on the slender side.

These are 2 different boxes, but it gives you a good look at the latch and hinge:

Jump to 4:28 in this video to see the latch/lids function.
