Epic Euro excursion

The Italian 🇮🇹 trip has begun. The drive to Newcastle to catch the overnight ferry was quite pleasant. The DFDS service is absolutely superb, what a pleasure, all immaculate and a comfortable cabin. the buffet meal and breakfast had endless choice and dozens of attentive staff.
It’s been a long drive from Amsterdam to our next stop here in Munich, top speed on the autobahn was 170mph but petrol disappears fast at that speed and I paid a whopping 2.54euro per litre for the premium stuff on the motorway so probably not worth the time saving.

Some likeminded travellers at the Newcastle terminal

If you squint a bit, your Morgan and that 8C aren’t so different 😂

The red headlights on the vintage car look amazing, probably useless but I want them!

I guess the one advantage of the Morgan on those narrow roads is that it is slightly slimmer than the Ferrari... smile

Which is why it is perfect on the A roads of France & taking a few more days.
The danger in Italy espcially just north of Rome south is that your car is admired so much. I have had drivers leaning out of their window on the Rome equivalent of the M25 & looking back to take a picture.

Als of course the style of driving trends towards the African where things are advisory at best.

We’d messed up our arrangements at Pagani. We’ve arrived a day late for our factory tour, the museum was good though.
Every detail of these cars is finished to perfection, so much so, they’re practically un-useable.

More 🇮🇹 Italian perfection and more gold wheels, Ducati bikes are like half a Ferrari and still all the beauty. Do Morgan and Ducati have the same investor owners?

We rounded our day off in old town Bologna, a very pretty place indeed even though well worn with time.

Loving the virtual tour of the automotive heartlands of Northern Italy! ... great pics again ... pity about the Pagani tour, surely they could have squeezed two little'uns in, even a day late ...you should have told them you were only late cos the Fezza's so slow and you're thinking of upgrading! 😄

So much great engineering ... a walk-through of the advancement of Human ingenuity (they do clear perspex covers for the timing side of your Duke ... so you can watch the timing belts and gears going round ... quite mesmerising).

You cant replicate real age ... you can feel it in your bones in proper old places .... like the patina on an unrestored pre-war Bentley .... trying to copy it ends up naff *

Keep them coming! 🙂

Not selling the Morgan short in terms of an ideal choice of machine for driving adventures, having travelled over a few rough roads in my old +8 in times past. Autostrada`s are boring at any time, but when time is limited using them and motorways was thought to be the best way to get as far south as possible, then using back roads for the return journey worked out well for us.

In the +8 in very hot weather having covered perhaps 300 miles in a hot day, the amount of heat build up in the cockpit was considerable with a hot engine out front a hot gearbox tunnel, and hot exhaust under each of the running boards, sitting stationary in a traffic jam on the outskirts of Naples... Yeah it was HOT, and the only time I wished for a Morgan with air con... (-:

Thanks so much for posting all those fantastic images.
