As a Post Script to my original posting, I should add that my Maternal Grandfather died in 1921 due to the effects of 'Gas Poisoning' whilst fighting for the British.
I think this gives a more balanced view, but unfortunately it was not the only fatality we as a 'family' have suffered as a result of 'war'.
