I totally agree Simon, i am only leaving the Gate ajar incase someone has found away around it that i am not knowledgable of.
For instance is it under an Aeromax Logbook or is it down as a repaired S3 S4, with an Aeromax backend, Inspectors might not of been familier with an Aeromax, there could be all sorts of reasons and like i say if like my friend the Guy might of found away around re classifying if he could prove a satisfactory repair.
Lets face it from what damage i could see of the photo's it didnt look to bad (Panel Damage)
there is also another aspect, the insurance have been known to reclassify to gain a higher buy back price,
again only going off the rules a few years ago salvage yards were put in the position where they Paid the insurance Companies 5% of net car value regardless of its condition, so if a car had been burnt out, they still had to pay out 5% of what the insurance had paid the owner, but the burnt shell was rendered nul.
The insurance Companies soon realised they were not getting any value for Salvage, so in some rare instances they would re catagorise the car to the Salvage yard, hence the Salvage Dealer paid out more, but could retreive more through re sale with the advantage of it now sited as a catagory C or D.
H.P.I are an independant body, the insurance companies only offer the information volintary, therefore H.P.I could be holding duff information, its happened plenty of times before, sometimes for the worse.
