There were no electronics in those days....so your doors would open and close ok and be locked with a key!
but the key would snap, then you would drill it out or replace the lock

around 1976-77 Renault brought out a flagship 3.0 V6, initial thoughts were WHAT A MOTOR, front wheel drive, lots of power, comfort and electrics, a family friend couldnt wait to show us his new toy, but 2-3 weeks down the road oh dear oh dear oh dear, he started to bring the car in and asking advise, windows not working, going up and down of there own accord, warning lights coming on etc etc, all sorted by the Renault Dealer under warranty.

After approx 6 months the car developed a misfire, the dealer retuned the car twice, then eventually replaced the Carburetor, to no avail.

He yet again returned seeking more advise my father checked over the car and informed him the Valve Timing was out.

On returning to the dealer they suggested that was impossible for a new car and it had double timng chains so no way.
By this time the new warrenty expired so the dealer had, had enough of customer and car, he brought the car to us for further inspection.

We stripped down the front Timing cover which was a days job in itself, "no information was available or tech support,
with cam covers removed we marked out what should of been TDC on both sides to find the right Bank chain had slipt approx 3 teeth, new wheels and chains ordered and fitted, that car went like a rocket and was enjoyed by its owner until part/xd

Renault are Mass company, but even they can't build a bespoke car tht works first time.
