It really doesn't matter where the receiver unit is, as there's few places to hide it and it will be found easily, given the time. But, you can't defeat a properly designed and fitted immobiliser by simply ripping it out (unlike a Tracker, whose existence and location really DOES have to be kept quiet), as it will have a mass of black wires running into it from the loom, none of them marked and all deliberately designed to confuse and make it all but impossible to hotwire without detailed knowledge of the specific install and unit operation.
The one that doesn't flash its LED does need fixing though...
