I reckon that in the climate we have it is really a ploy by the tyre manufacturers to sell more tyres -- I tried a set of winter tyres a while ago and noticed no real difference. Perhaps it is because of the influence of the Gulf Stream on the Irish climate or maybe we just have it too wet for the nest of the year!!!
