and I headed up to the Highlands, I'd let her choose the cottage. Turned out it was 10 miles or so from Lochinver, in the 'village' of Drumbeg.
We stayed at the Castle (it was a Best Western back then) in Inverary on the way up and return. In my 127" Land Rover it was quite a drive!
Not sure why the group I go to Ft. Augustus with like to overnight at Carlisle, I'd like to get further north. It would leave more time to get the camera out on the scenery north of Glasgow (from Loch Lomond onward). So, when
does join in a journey north, I could well take you up on the accommodation advice...
