This afternoon I drove my mog up to coventry to see the garage 56 stand at retro racing.
I was very impressed with the extent of thought that has gone into the design. Paticularly with how they managed to get a wider tube to still look good and fit through the wishbones without causung the exhaust to hit the mud gaurds on full lock. I dont think the photos have done it justice and you need to see a car in the flesh.
The team have done extensive testing along the pipe to determine operating temperatures and the effects of a cat on the power output etc. I trust they have a good understanding of the lean\rich debate based upon evidence.
This is not a simple exersize of bolting tubes to the side of a car...
These are engineers not technicians and if you want a good design solution you have to pay for it. Hence £1250 is not just a fair price, it is a bargain compared with the thousands of £ that I have lavished to the mrgan god keeping it on the road this last year.
Whilst the team have done some testing in the real world perhaps the structure is something they need to reassure me about more. I have personally had two exhausts crack in the last year and dont want the bother again. But these g56 ones are gauranteed for a period of time. I have no reason to suspect they have not been careful in designing the structure.
I would be buying tomorrow but I am halfway through buying a house and cannot have an indulgence at this time.
Really it all depends upon what you want to get out of the m3w exlerience.
