It seems things are moving along on the Suplex 5 link rear suspension. Pre production sets have been made using the tooling and jigs that will be used in production.
I have heard from Peter Ballard and he has passed on the latest news.
The PreProduction2 was fitted to a 3.7 Roadster last week. Reports are that it transformed the car and that it can now use all that torque and power. The ride is so much better and it has much more grip in bumpy corners. Apparently an ex-Morgan race driver and dealer drove the car too, he was very impressed, could not fault it. According the owner he did drive it hard, very hard!
Spring rate progression and damping adjustment range are good. Roll stiffness progression also seems to work very well.
Peter tells me that they are doing a few minor mods to help manufacturing and fitting, then production. I hope to make it a project to get a set fitted before winter sets in.
They will be offering tuned Bilstein monotube nonadjustable dampers at the rear to match those in the RS up front, then also adjustable monotube dampers front and rear matched.
Prices are not yet decided and, as I said before, the fitting of the Suplex front suspension ‘Refinement System’ will be a pre-requisite as the front and rear systems are tuned to balance together. I understand that there will be a limited number of qualified dealers initially to ensure the correct fitting of the system.
I don't know who the owner of the Roadster is. Perhaps the lucky man will reveal all in due course.
I should mention that I have no financial interest in this product. I am just a satisfied owner of a car fitted with the Suplex front suspension RS kit, and I am passing on the news because I know many are interested to know what is being developed.
