The steel wings on my 1986 4/4 are in a bad way, it's not so much rust that's an issue but the cracking filler (the old steel wings were all made by hand and needed a _lot_ of filler to give a smooth finish).
I've got it semi-booked in with Steve Barnes to have a full set of alloy wings fitted, but I've got to see whether I will have any money left over from my garage build before I can commit the car to his tender mercies.
TBH I can't see why one would want to put steel wings on, especially not when the alloy ones are so well made these days, but chacun à son goût and all that...
