Eighteen months ago I almost bought a 1975 4/4 from a well regarded dealer in the North West. My wife pulled the plug on it at the very last minute which p***ed the dealer off (understandably) and me also. The car was cheap (£13k or thereabouts) and a bit shabby but felt strong and authentic and I liked it.
The same car has appeared for sale again at the same dealer recently. It's had a respray (which it needed) and is now about £16k. I don't know whether to buy it. (The wife is more circumspect now although she is asking why it has come up for sale again so soon, which I guess is a fair question) My budget could accommodate something more expensive (up to about £30k) but there's something about these 1970s ones that I like.
Any thoughts?

I think I know the car you mean if its a French blue one. I did see it a few times before it got re-sprayed, it had been done not very well by the previous owner and looked a bit shabby although you could use it every day without worrying too much about it. I haven't seen it in the flesh since its been re-sprayed but obviously the dealer is trying to re-coup the money he has laid out for the re-spray. If it is the blue one then the Dealer is an ok guy. I believe it has had a new chassis and other work not too long ago. I really liked it to be honest before it was re-sprayed. I think the only thing which stopped it selling before was the poor quality re-spray which has now been resolved. If it were me I would go for it.
