For the record it's recent EU legislation that has been hard fought against airlines hiding behind all sorts of excuses not to compensate. Usually they used the 'force majeure' argument which prior to the legislation could cover just about anything from one of their own aircraft breaking down to their own staff going on strike....now it's all time related, if they delay you they pay. Within certain time parameters of course.
