Yes I think we are, and I fear that the list price will continue to rise until they no longer sell easily.
It's been a very effective sales strategy so far. And a basic no frills car with four painted wheels and PVC hood could be argued as a reasonably priced car.
But the menu driven extras to tempt the non sporting owner works very well. The cost of mohair over PVC should be limited to extra cost of the material, plus any extra time to make the hood up over PVC, but it's a huge premium. As are stainless wires and so on.
In 2005, my Roadster cost around £42,000 new with stainless wires and Mohair pack. That's bad enough but ten years on we're looking at £57,000, admittedly with a different engine. That's a huge increase when inflation has been so low for so long.
