I very much agree with your last sentence and while I don't want to stir things up here becuase veiws on issues like this are essentially personal, perhaps the following actual example might be of interest.

Tomorrow, a mate and I aee going to have a look at a Porsche 356 coupe which he is thinking of acquiring It is, in those well- loved words, 'a minter' ( I've seen it already,) and is available for an amount which is very considerably less than SLR4 and has been looked after rather than restored

I accept that there can be no 'like for like' comparison here not least because of the rarity value of the SLR and the significance of the SLR in Morgan history. As a couple of people have said, the market will decide but I really do wonder whether the very large price differential is justified all the same.
