You are of course right if you let having a remote kit mean you never get under the car again. In my case I do, but I certainly don't intend doing it every 500 to 1000 mile intervals if that's the recommended greasing interval.

No way do I want to be laying under it on garage forecourts or hotel car parks when away. Far easier to give the remote a couple of pumps when it needs it and periodically do the spanner check as I do in the 'comfort' of my own garage or drive.

As for waste, what waste? None now comes out between the gun and nipple as it's far easier to get the right angle of the dangle on the remote block than trying to do it laying on your back, especially if you wear glasses and the things are never in the right place to see well.

It is of course easy to overdo it and excess will go unnoticed but it's equally easy to use some experience and know that 3 or 4 pumps is all it needs.

But like Colin says, horses for courses.
