On a slightly different angle, think carefully bout the door. If I were to change my garage the first thing I would tackle would be the up and over door which I would change for something with far better insulation and a far tighter fit. If you want to enjoy working on the car in the garage in winter, then insulation is the first requirement followed by some sort of heating. My boiler and HW tank are in the garage but thats nothing like enough for comfort so I use a Super Sir (?) gas heater.
As to the tiles, I have plastic tiles of the old vinyl sort. I suppose they have been OK for the 20 years since they have been laid but they are now breaking up and lifting particularly where a wet car drips water. I would prefer proper ceramic which I know would stand the load of things like jacks.
