Where does it stand on the mobile being secured into a dash holder adjacent to the wheel or screen based suction mount.
There has to be some justification for accepting this. I can drive an iPhone with my eyes closed (not while driving) better than the inbuilt MMI in the Audi as I use it more and the options and number of clicks required are less.
If this is more adjacent to my line of site than the MMI screen this would seem better.
Also Apple Car Play on modern cars is pushed through the onboard screen.
1. Without a touchscreen on the car (eg use from the cars tumbler) as in my loan A3 right now it is harder than a screen mount.
2. This is managing a mobile device which could be almost anywhere in the car. But the CarPlay menu is highly restricted by apple to compensate for this.
Any guidance other than don't try and use any of them where it respresents a distraction ?
Basically if it's not held in your hand

it's ok, but bear in mind if you are distracted while accessing it or simply distracted by making the call and it affects your driving you could be committing other offences. TBH it's better to stop and make your call or re-program your satnav, much safer. I stopped someone last week, he was drifting from lane 2 to lane 3 and lane 1. He was re-programming the satnav and had no idea that he was wandering from lane to lane
