One thing that makes me wonder a bit.....the chassis crossmember that supports the gearbox is welded to the chassis. If it was bolted then wouldn't that make a gearbox/clutch job easier? If ever I needed such jobs then perhaps cutting and replacement with bolt on would be an option. A suitable u-channel with mountings to reinforced chassis points is not a major job.
