I'm in Lexington, in the north western suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. As the place where the first shots of the revolution were fired in 1775 we get lots of tourists, but they mostly come in coaches and don't hang around. Driving in Boston is infamous, with rude cutthroat drivers ignoring the rules, potholes, and very few directional signs.
Beyond the inner suburbs however it is great. There are potholes of course, but also miles of rolling countryside often with little or no traffic. The Fall foliage can be stunning and while there are no pubs, there are many places to stop for coffee or ice cream.
From Lexington we can get to skiing hills or great beaches within a 45 minute drive. No Morgan driving in winter because of the cold and the crap on the roads, but April is getting closer.
