There are a LOT of older Morgans in existence. Over the years so much has changed in design, updates, parts etc that the problem of spares/replacements is huge. A nightmare.
I had a 1993 4/4 with cvh efi engine. Les than 200 were made with this engine. So....do Morgan keep spares? No.
The rest of the car, chassis, axle, bodywork etc are more likely as they were common to a larger build total.
MMC will have stocks/supplier orders based on a production plan. So, do they need to order extras to be held in stock somewhere for aftermarket sales? If so, how many and how long for?
I worked in a car rad factory making rads for mainly BL. We had a warehouse stocking aftermarket products. Production schedules were based on JIT to the car/lorry factories. Aftermarket rads were added on based on warehouse stock level and replenishment needs to trigger the rescheduling.
Rads for older models were made, Morris 1000, Princess, Rover Sd1etc, all out of production. The whole range of parts needed in total was enormous so complex scheduling.
MMC won't do that as it is a major cost for low volume.
If spares requests are analysed then those most likely needed could be looked at as stock items. Otherwise info on outsourcing/dealer sourcing could help.
I think closer liaison with dealers re identifying and sourcing spares or alternatives would be good.
