If you are really chasing performance then perhaps.
The brake upgrade I would be interested in is ABS. It is fairly easy to lock the wheels with standard brakes let alone upgrades. Perhaps a brake bias valve to fine tune front/rear braking as well?
Alloy drums are about heat dissipation to avoid brake fade. As indeed are discs. Spirited road driving particularly with long down hills can give brake fade
Yea, but how many people experience this in normal use.
I never have and believe Me I have driven very fast on very long down hill roads. You can not do much travelling in the Rockies without a 5,000'+ drop from 10,000'+ to 5,000'-. I would expect the Swiss Alps would be the same.
Never the less adding an aluminum fin to a cast iron brake drum sounds fascinating, just to do it.
