Like all tools, personality assessment methodologies are capable of being used for purposes to which they are not suited, and in my view the over-reliance on them by HR departments is a perfect indication of this misuse (some would say abuse).

To my mind, this indicates the widespread incompetence of HR departments more than it does the value per se of the assessment approach itself.

I think it can be quite handy to gain a bit of an insight into one's personality and more importantly into the way that comes across to other people - which is where I think the M-B approach can provide useful input, even though it is by no means a complete and fault-free approach.

But then I would say that, wouldn't I? I'm an INTP -T-A Logician. smile
