Ooh er….. interesting component design. Looks like it might be a gravity die casting. That change in section looks optimistic. Will create cooling issues, porosity and weakness at the change in volume during manufacture. Perhaps it all should have been a uniform thickness with webs and the fixing could have been a localised boss. Hindsight’s a wonderful thing!
