That's what I've heard through a pilot friend who works for Easy Jet

The cocking up the leave is partially correct but a bit of a smoke screen for pilots and senior airline staff jumping ship (plane) for better pay and conditions

They have been cancelling flights on the quiet for a few months now because of staff shortages apparently


I've heard similar from a friend (ex RAF) who now flies for Thompson.
Really easy solution to the issues Ryanair passengers regularly face - don't fly with them.
