No, Howard, the only case I know about was Porsche who claimed some (in this case really plausible) limitations in the past. All tyres had to be N cerificated by Porsche. May be similar advice happened regarding other manufacturers. Of course the car makers have some OEM tyres fitted when delivering the car new, but there is no rule to continue with this certain type/brand.
By law the tyre only has to have the right size and the right speed and load index. So I have the free choice of brand if this limits are respected.
