I didn't get a letter from Morgan but I did get a letter from DWP to day telling my winter fuel allowance was on the way. I think I know which I prefer
I got the same letter.
I have mixed views about giving everyone over a set age £200, some need it very much, some don't.
Surely more to those in real need would be better.
Mine goes to Age UK.
I understand the sentiment, but then means testing these sorts of benefits is contentious in it's own way.
I'd suggest that the obvious solution is for these sorts of benefits to be made taxable, thus in the case of pensioners who are comfortably off, the government will get a decent whack of it back, whereas the pensioners who really need it probably don't pay income tax.
