Fair point but the rivnuts should last many years and are easy to drill out and replace if they do corrode, could not source alloy screws at the time and not sure if the threads would have been man enough (can you use that term these days?). [/quote]
The corrosion of steel fastenings into allow is a common sailboat problem whether you use stainless steel or not. It can be prevented by coating the fastener in Duralac before tightening down. Duralac is a sort of zinc chromate paint and its used in aircraft top prevent corrosion between the fastenings and the alloy skin. No doubt there are alternative names - you can get the stuff on E bay or at a yacht chandlers. Its bright canary yellow so neat workmanshipm is needed.
